Customer Success Story : Ping proxy

Using Scaleway's Elastic Metal and Managed Kubernetes services, we built an API-first platform that processes 5 billion monthly residential proxy requests and delivers real-time analytics and audit trail information to customers.

About the Company

Ping Proxies is a UK-based ethical residential proxy provider and web-data collection platform. We are a trusted sidekick of data-driven businesses, helping them unlock publicly available web-data with ease.

Challenges

Before Scaleway, their monolithic code base made product development and upgrades slow and cumbersome. They needed to separate their systems to enable independent scaling and improve development speed while remaining profitable.

As a bootstrapped company, Scaleway provided them with an affordable Managed Kubernetes solution combined with bare metal services that enabled them to process and scale billions of network requests and rapidly develop new features for their customers.

Results

The company currently uses 10 Elastic Metal nodes for their Kubernetes cluster and residential proxies. They have integrated two load balancers with their Traefik proxies, taking advantage of the simple configuration capabilities offered by Kosmos. In addition, they use Scaleway Secret Manager to easily update configurations on their network of proxies, and have introduced generative APIs to analyze customer URLs to better direct traffic.

Ping proxy has been able to deliver more product updates in the last three months since moving to Scaleway than in the previous two years, helping them to attract new customers and increase their monthly recurring revenue by 30.66%, reaching $1 million in annual recurring revenue.

Future plan

For the future, they are banking on the Scaleway AI platform. They have already integrated Scaleway AI API services into their network of residential proxies, enabling them to route customer traffic more efficiently while reducing costs. In addition, they are extending the use of this technology to their data collection platform, Bloxed.com, to enable users to extract web data without the need for programming skills.
