SAMCloud provides highly connected and highly available solutions for public establishments such as hotels, student residences, and veterinary clinics, as well as for private companies and associations with growing data hosting and business application needs. We specialize in outsourcing information systems with SaaS offers based on a 100% French cloud model, with no long-term commitment.

Challenges

As demand from our international client base grew, we faced the challenge of ensuring high availability and performance during peak usage periods. Managing significant amounts of data traffic in real-time while keeping latency low became increasingly complex. Additionally, scalability and traffic management costs became critical factors, pushing us to seek optimized solutions. Our previous infrastructure required manual intervention, impacting flexibility and operational efficiency.

Solution

To address these challenges, we adopted Scaleway's fully managed Kubernetes platform. This transition, from 20 VPS servers to 6 Kubernetes nodes, simplified infrastructure management, enhanced scalability, and reduced costs. The automatic resource scaling feature allowed us to maintain high availability and performance for our 3D applications, even during peak demand.

We also implemented Scaleway’s S3-compatible object storage, enabling the efficient storage and delivery of large volumes of images and 3D models. Scaleway's load balancing services distributed network traffic effectively, ensuring a seamless user experience. Our IPBX hosting platform, spread across DC2 & DC5, utilized a cluster of 3 Dedibox Pro 5 M interconnected through the RPNv2 network, providing robust failover mechanisms and high reliability.

Future Plans

Moving forward, we aim to maximize the use of managed services to further streamline infrastructure management. Plans include transitioning to an asynchronous architecture for better transaction handling and exploring Scaleway’s GPU instances for advanced 3D rendering and intensive simulations. A Proof of Concept (PoC) is planned to assess the effectiveness of GPU instances, supporting our vision to offer highly responsive and immersive client experiences. These initiatives will help us stay competitive and meet our clients' evolving needs effectively.
