Scaleway and KNE (Hachette Livre Group) announce a major sovereign cloud partnership
Scaleway, the leading European cloud provider, has teamed up with Kiosque Numérique de l'Education (KNE, Hachette Livre), France’s leading distributor of digital textbooks and digital educational resources, for a strategic partnership in data management and hosting.
With this collaboration, the Kiosque Numérique de l’Education (KNE) will benefit from Scaleway’s secure infrastructure, which hosts its data in France, in one of Europe’s most environmentally-friendly data centers. The DC5 datacenter, fully powered by renewable energy, uses 30-40% less energy than a standard datacenter, and is twice as water-efficient as market standards.
Scaleway has full control over data sovereignty. As its data centers are located in Europe, mainly in France, Scaleway is fully compliant with GDPR, and the data it stores is not subject to extraterritorial laws. This helps to ensure the security of all customers’ sensitive data, including that of teachers and students. Indeed, Scaleway already works with the French Ministry of Education, in compliance with the latter’s rigorous standards, having notably set up the cloud infrastructure for video conferencing platform “Webinaire de l’Etat”.
This agreement is part of a shared commitment to working together to meet the growing needs of the education market. Hachette Livre group’s KNE, a key player in the digital educational resources market for the past 20 years, will benefit from a completely redesigned platform, which is due to go online in the second half of 2024, featuring the latest innovations and a high level of security and availability.
