Scaleway begins the SecNumCloud qualification process

Cloud provider Scaleway, an iliad Group subsidiary, has officially begun the SecNumCloud qualification process for its “Scaleway Cloud” offering. Developed and awarded by ANSSI, France's National Cybersecurity Agency, this qualification is one of the most stringent in the world in terms of data security and sovereignty. Scaleway has passed the “J0” milestone, meaning that ANSSI has validated its request to begin the process, and it is aiming to achieve qualification by the end of 2025.

Having already been awarded ISO 27001 and HDS (healthcare data hosting) certifications, Scaleway’s start of the SecNumCloud qualification process further strengthens its market positioning given that it is targeting an equivalent level of qualification as that of the cloud’s leading players.

SecNumCloud – a hallmark of trust and security

SecNumCloud is a qualification system used in France as assurance that a provider's cloud services respect the highest security and compliance standards, particularly with regard to sensitive data. It guarantees that the provider's customers are being offered a secure cloud infrastructure that complies with all French and E.U. laws and regulations. By starting this qualification process, Scaleway is demonstrating its determination to guarantee its customers the highest, most widely recognized level of security for cloud solutions.

Following its validation of the qualification request for the “Scaleway Cloud” offering, ANSSI has launched an inspection of the offering’s framework. It has also commenced an initial analysis to ascertain that Scaleway respects structured and advanced security processes and principles, that it can guarantee immunity from the application of extraterritorial laws, and that it applies traceability principles and complies with the requirements applicable to sectors with the most sensitive data (such as healthcare and public services).

Once it has been obtained, the SecNumCloud final qualification will attest that the “Scaleway Cloud” offering is compliant with the requirements set by both the French General Secretariat for Defense and National Security (SGDSN) and ANSSI, and therefore that it meets France's most stringent governmental standards. It will also serve as assurance that our solutions do not at any time expose our customers’ data to any extraterritorial laws.
